The Greater House of Prayer Church Youth Department is the pulse of the ministry. We actively engage youth from the ages of 4 thru 17 and young adults ages 18 – 29. Youth participate in the ministry through Sunday School, Bible Class, Auxiliaries, community events, performing arts and activities that raise spiritual awareness. GHOP is a ministry that emphasizes the importance of both traditional and spiritual education.
The ministry offers a mentoring program for young adults to mentor and tutor the youth weekly. Youth receive assistance with homework, after school supervision and a nutritious meal. In the past six years (since the church’s inception) youth and many adults have successfully obtained post-secondary, graduate and doctoral degrees.
The goal of the youth department is to provide education and training on values, morals, professionalism, leadership, team work and to give young people an opportunity to work in the church. The ministry also provides career counseling, internships and job readiness skills.
Pastor Leverette believes this work will prepare them to work in the world as productive citizens. Many young adults maintain part-time or full-time employment as they attend school and church services as their schedules permit.
Youth members actively participate in business meetings, committees, maintain leadership roles, volunteer and complete Community Service hours for school. Our youth currently youth serve in the following capacities:
- Acolytes
- Announcers
- Concession/Café workers
- Junior Deacons
- Usher Board
- Angelic Choir
- Youth and Young Adult Choir
